New Jersey Outpatient Groups
Adolescent Eating Disorders Group
Adolescent girls struggling to overcome
anorexia, bulimia or other disordered eating
patterns involving binge eating or restricting
can benefit from this weekly group. Led by
experienced therapists, the sessions provide a
safe, sympathetic atmosphere where group members
explore what triggers their eating disorders as
well as issues concerning body image,
relationships, school, work and home.
Adolescent Mixed Eating Disorder Group
Interpersonal group for adolescents struggling with a range of eating disorders. Topics include school, family and peer pressure.
Adult Mixed Eating Disorder Group
This group is geared towards women 30 years old and beyond who struggle with a range of eating disorders. This is a therapeutic group where members support and challenge each other in their recovery.
Community Multi-Family Group
This group is for members of the community who have a loved one with an eating disorder, and would like support and education. Topics include: signs and symptoms of an eating disorder, do's and don’ts, and encouraging treatment.
Emotional Eating Group A weekly group that helps women
overcome compulsive overeating and make positive
lifestyle changes. The group focuses on the
needs of the participants and may include
looking deeper at culture, family and self
within a sympathetic and safe atmosphere.
Eating Disorders Aftercare Group
This group meets weekly to process feelings
underlying eating disorder symptoms as the
participant transitions down from a higher level
of care. Exploration of how their feelings are
expressed in their behaviors occurs and there is
attention given to identifying and expressing
emotions in a healthy way.
Nutrition Group This group focuses on nutrition education, including various topics of interest to clients. Topics include: eating out, coping with holidays, meal planning, and more.
Outpatient Multi-Family Group
Family members and caregivers of current outpatient clients at The Renfrew Center may attend to gain support on caring for a loved one with an eating disorder. This group is for family members only, offering a safe space to gain support and education.
Young Adult Eating Disorder Group
Young women ages 20-30 meet to gain support on living with an eating disorder. Topics include coping with social situations, managing decisions about college and/or work, changing relationships with parents, and managing eating disorder symptoms.
